This Pune liquor tragedy is honestly very disturbing because 12 people losing lives over spurious liquor is not some small accident ah . It has happened in Hadapsar and Pimpri-Chinchwad areas, and now anger is clearly spilling out in public also.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar has reacted strongly to whole incident and called it "extremely unfortunate" . She said proper investigation must happen to find out how this toxic liquor reached people and who all were behind it.
And at same time, she has said those responsible will face strict consequences . Her words were also very direct: "We will not spare anyone involved in this heinous act that has cost lives."
So far,her directions have led to arrest of eight individuals connected to illicit liquor trade . Police and Excise Department are now doing joint investigation, mainly to identify source of toxic liquor and full chain behind this illegal operation.
Few things standing out clearly in this case:
- 12 individuals died after spurious liquor consumption in Pune's Hadapsar and Pimpri-Chinchwad areas.
- Eight individuals connected to illicit liquor trade have been arrested .
- Local MLA Rohit Pawar led protests against illegal liquor production.
But tbh, public anger is not surprising here . When people die like this, that too because illegal liquor is being sold openly somewhere, first question everyone asks is simple: how was this allowed to continue?
Local MLA Rohit Pawar also expressed strong outrage and stormed illegal liquor unit in Hadapsar . After that, party workers vandalized it,which has now made whole issue even more politically heated.
He also attacked authorities for alleged negligence and said,"When asked, the police claim they still don't know the exact cause of death. It is obvious that police are trying to shield someone." That is serious allegation, and it shows how much distrust has already built around this case.
And honestly, this is where situation becomes bigger than one liquor unit only . People are now asking about regulation, enforcement, and whether illegal liquor production in Maharashtra is being ignored until tragedy happens.
Sunetra Pawar is promising strict action,Police and Excise Department are investigating, and arrests have already happened . But for families who lost 12 people, question will still remain whether this was preventable…and who was looking away before it became headline…
