This Delhi building collapse news is honestly scary because it happened in busy area close to Saket Metro Station, and still people may be trapped under debris . A four-storey under-construction building collapsing like this is not small thing ah.
Incident happened on evening of May 30,2026 in Saidullajab . Building was still under construction and it reportedly came down at around 6 PM,creating complete chaos on Western Marg as people nearby rushed to help whoever was stuck .
One eyewitness described scene in very chilling way, saying,"The entire building came down within moments. People screamed and ran,but some were trapped before they could escape." And when someone says building came down within moments, you can imagine how little time anyone inside had to react.
Delhi Fire Services (DFS) got first alert at 7:44 PM and sent four fire tenders to spot . After that, rescue work started with National Disaster Response Force (NDRF),Delhi Police, civil defense units and ambulances also joining in.
Few key things from rescue operation so far:
- Seven individuals rescued from debris, including three locals who acted before official rescue teams arrived.
- Authorities estimate six to seven more individuals may still be trapped.
- Heavy machinery is being used to clear debris and help rescue teams reach people .
What makes this more disturbing is timing part . Since collapse happened on weekend,it may have saved many lives because same structure reportedly had around 200 to 300 employees during weekdays . That one detail is giving chills only .
Nearby properties were also damaged, including nearby mess . So this was not just one building falling quietly somewhere,it affected people around also and created panic in entire area.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta posted on X,stating,"Deeply concerned by the building collapse incident near Saket Metro Station. Teams from NDRF,Delhi Fire Services,Delhi Police, DDMA, MCD,CATS,and Civil Defence are carrying out rescue operations on a war footing." She also said injured people are being taken to hospitals while rescue work continues.
Right now, cause of collapse has still not been determined and focus is clearly on saving lives . But tbh, when under-construction building falls like this in Delhi,it again raises same uncomfortable question about inspections, site safety and who was watching all this before it happened…
