So RCB has actually done it again . Winning their second consecutive IPL title after defeating Gujarat Titans is not small thing ah. For years this team was just about big names and no trophies, but now things look so different.
This victory by five wickets wasn't just some stroke of luck . It seems to be result of some serious planning and building a good team culture.
And lot of the credit is going to head coach Andy Flower and Director of Cricket Mo Bobat . They have really turned around RCB’s reputation from star-studded,imbalanced team to a solid, cohesive unit.
Bobat talked about this journey in press conference recently . He said,“When Andy and I first joined,we faced challenges, but we learned valuable lessons that paved the way for our success. mega auction allowed us to reset and build a squad that we believed could achieve our goals.”
And honestly, that reset was exactly what they needed .
It seems their whole approach was very clear from the beginning.
- Focus was on getting a top-two finish in the group stage to get better chance in playoffs.
- They went after experienced, proven players during auctions instead of just big names .
- Management put lot of effort into building confidence among the players .
This focus on continuous improvement is what stands out . Bobat also mentioned,“We’ve aimed to push players to be ambitious and build on our past successes.” It's about building a winning mentality, not just winning one title and relaxing .
And his point on the auction is so true . He said,“While you can't necessarily win championship at the auction, you can certainly lose one. decisions made during that phase are critical for team structure.” We have seen so many teams make this mistake for years .
The whole transformation is just crazy to watch . The same squad that was criticized by experts has shown that a clear vision can beat anything in competition like IPL.
Now the question is how long they can keep this going… this is a whole new RCB and it's interesting to see what happens next season…
