Wow,what a commanding performance by India's U-18 Men's Hockey Team . 4-1 victory against Korea is no small thing ah,especially in the U-18 Asia Cup.
And they started match with so much power . They were leading by two goals in first five minutes only. That kind of start really puts pressure on opponent from the beginning itself.
The first goal came in just the third minute, with captain Ketan Kushwaha converting a penalty corner perfectly . And then, almost immediately,Varinder Singh scored in fifth minute from a great pass by Gazee Khan. Just amazing teamwork .
But Korea didn't just give up . They tried to slow down game's pace and managed to score one goal back. Their captain,Yun Jaehyeok, scored from a penalty corner in the 21st minute, making it 2-1 at halftime.
And honestly, that halftime score must have felt bit tense. A one-goal lead can disappear very quickly in hockey .
However, our boys came back with full control in third quarter . Captain Kushwaha scored his second goal, again from a penalty corner, showing his real skill and leadership. And finally,Shahrukh Ali put last nail in coffin with a goal in the 54th minute, sealing the 4-1 win .
Few things that really stood out for me:
- Captain Ketan Kushwaha was on fire, scoring two crucial goals.
- India's aggressive start gave them two goals in just first five minutes .
- Now India,Korea and Japan all have six points in Pool A,so competition is getting tight .
This victory is huge for their position in Pool and for their confidence going forward . Now with India,Korea, and Japan all on six points, every match is going to be super important.
The next match is against Chinese Taipei on June 3 at 1:30 PM IST . Everyone will be watching this one closely to see if they can keep up this momentum.
With this kind of performance, you just hope they stay consistent and focused . The team has so much potential…
