Colombia looking really solid in their friendly against Costa Rica ah . Winning 3-1 at home in El Campin Stadium is good sign just before the World Cup starts on June 11.
And the star of the show was clearly Luis Diaz . guy from Bayern Munich was just everywhere, scoring one and setting up another. He was playing on another level only.
Colombia basically controlled whole game . They looked sharp, organized, and their attack was clicking in front of home crowd.
The scoring started early with Davinson Sanchez heading in a goal from corner kick taken by Diaz . Perfect start for them. Then Diaz himself scored after a nice combination with Jorge Carrascal, and tbh,it happened because of a bad mistake from Costa Rica's defense.
But Costa Rica did try to fight back . Andrey Soto scored a header in the 33rd minute, which gave them little bit of hope. But it was not enough,Colombia just took back control very quickly.
The final goal came from Luis Suarez, who got a great long pass from James Rodriguez and finished it properly . Good to see the veteran playmaker still has that vision.
Few things standing out from this match:
- Colombia's attacking strategy was clear, they used set pieces and fast counter-attacks very well.
- Their final warm-up is against Jordan on June 7 before the big tournament.
- World Cup campaign for them kicks off against Uzbekistan on June 17 in Mexico City.
And honestly, this is where things get interesting.
After match, coach Lorenzo sounded pleased but also cautious . He said,"This was good test, even though we didn’t have the full group with us until yesterday. We have lot of things to improve, but as the days go by,I am confident that we will be in very good shape for the World Cup."
So they are feeling confident, but they know there's more work to do . This win is good momentum, but the real challenge will be in their group with Democratic Republic of Congo and Portugal… that's going to be a different level of pressure entirely...
