RCB fans must be feeling very strange mix of confidence and fear right now, because Ravichandran Ashwin has basically said what many people are already thinking . Royal Challengers Bengaluru look strong before IPL 2026 final against Gujarat Titans, but their biggest enemy may be themselves only.
Ashwin, the former Indian off-spinner,has expressed confidence in RCB as they get ready for final at Narendra Modi Stadium . He feels defending champions are in strong position to win again, and honestly, that is not random hype considering how their season has gone .
RCB finished at top of league standings and then crushed Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 1 by 92 runs . That kind of win before final is not small thing ah. It gives confidence, but at same time,it also increases pressure badly.
But Gujarat Titans are not some easy opponent here. Final is at their home ground, and this season that place has almost become fortress for them . Ashwin also accepted that part clearly when he said,"The fact that GT are playing at their home ground and that they’ve dominated there... is something that’s really going to give them that extra fillip going into the final."
Few things standing out before this final:
- RCB's aggressive style — RCB's willingness to take risks has been big reason behind their success this season.
- Gujarat's strong home record — Titans have performed exceptionally well at home,so this is real challenge for RCB.
- Only their mistakes can cost RCB — Ashwin believes RCB's chance of losing depends more on their own performance, not just Titans.
And tbh, that last point is most interesting. Ashwin is not saying Gujarat Titans cannot beat them. He is saying RCB are playing at such level that if they stay clean and brave, they are team to beat.
He also talked about difference in both teams' approach. RCB have been more aggressive, more willing to take risks, while Titans have their own style. Ashwin praised players like Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Krunal Pandya, who have played big roles in RCB's season. His line was simple but strong: "RCB have been willing to take that extra risk... they have a team with a few fighters."
Now RCB are trying to become only third franchise in IPL history to defend their title . That itself brings heavy pressure. On other side,Gujarat Titans, led by Shubman Gill, are also fighting for their second championship.
So yes,on paper RCB look ahead. Form is with them, momentum is with them, and Ashwin also sounds convinced. But finals are weird games,no? One bad over, one dropped catch, one wrong risk… and suddenly whole story changes…
