This is all part of a bigger plan called Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission . whole country has now crossed 90 crore ABHA accounts in 2026,which shows how fast this whole thing is moving. The main goal is to give people a way to access and share their health records online,safely.
And honestly,this is a big change from carrying those old dusty files to every doctor visit .
The initiative has strong backing from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Rajasthan's Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma . They are pushing for this to make healthcare services more open and efficient,which is good thing. ABHA ID is basically your unique digital health identity.

- Rajasthan crossed 7.19 crore ABHA IDs,making it second nationwide.
- The number of ABHA accounts across India surged from 14.7 crore in 2021 to over 90 crore in 2026.
- Each person gets a unique 14-digit ABHA Health ID for their medical records .
So with this ID,all your lab reports,prescriptions,and hospital records can be stored in one place digitally . No need to carry a bag of papers every time. You can just access everything on your mobile only.
But of course,when you hear "digital records",first question is always about privacy . Officials say that privacy and transparency are a priority,and that people will have full control over their own health information . They decide who can see it .
This also helps doctors a lot . They can see your entire medical history in one go which helps them make better treatment decisions . It's supposed to create a proper "longitudinal" health record,as they call it.
The plan is to make quality healthcare better for everyone,in cities and in villages too .
It all sounds very good on paper,but the real test will be how easily normal person,especially in a remote village,can actually use this system without problems…
