This Pune road rage case is honestly scary because it is not just some argument between drivers . family with three-year-old child was allegedly attacked after motorcycle-car collision in Wagholi area,and whole thing sounds completely unnecessary.
Incident happened on evening of May 28, 2026,when Shantanu Niranjan Shukla,an engineer,was returning home after shopping with his wife,Vartika,and their three-year-old son,Shivan . They were on motorcycle and near Decathlon,while taking U-turn,a car allegedly hit their bike .
Now normally,people stop,check if everyone is okay and sort it out calmly . But according to complaint filed at Wagholi Police Station,when family asked car driver to be more careful,occupants allegedly started abusing them verbally instead .
And this is where matter got worse only .
As they continued towards Wagholi Chowk,Vartika reportedly clicked photograph of vehicle . That apparently angered car occupants even more,and confrontation turned violent . Police complaint says car driver then deliberately blocked family’s motorcycle,causing them to fall on road.
Few things standing out in this case:
- Assault on family happened after motorcycle and car collision in Wagholi area.
- Child injured — three-year-old Shivan sustained injuries to his lip.
- Legal action initiated — police registered case against four individuals,including two women.
After bike fell,the assailants allegedly assaulted Shantanu and one of them even threatened him directly . During scuffle,Shivan was struck in face,which left visible injuries . And when Vartika tried to protect her family,she was also allegedly attacked by two women from car.
This is not small thing ah. Road rage is already bad,but when child gets hurt in middle of adult ego fight,it becomes something else entirely . People are driving like every small scratch is personal insult.
After this traumatic incident,family went to IMAX Hospital in Wagholi for medical attention and then formally approached police . Authorities have registered case under multiple sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023,along with Motor Vehicles Act,1988 . Police are investigating and legal proceedings against accused are underway rn .
But still,one basic question stays stuck in mind… how does one traffic collision turn into family being beaten on road in front of small child…
