This mob lynching case of GRP constable Soumya Ranjan Swain is just getting more and more grim . Now Crime Branch has arrested another main suspect,which is good news,but the details are just horrible.
This new person is named Pradeep Mangaraj alias Dipu,he is 46 years old . He was apparently hiding in different places to avoid police but they finally caught him on Monday night from Dhenkanal district after getting some solid information .
And the proof against him is very direct and chilling . According to a senior Crime Branch official,"His active involvement in the Soumya murder case is established through video analysis. He was seen assaulting Soumya in the video." Just imagine,they have video of him doing it.
With this arrest,the total number of people caught in this case is now 18 . Eighteen people. That’s not a small number ah,it was a full-blown mob .
And honestly,this is where the whole thing becomes so disturbing.
The way this whole thing started is also so… random and tragic . It all began on May 7 when Soumya and his friend were on a motorcycle and had some kind of minor collision with scooter carrying two girls.
- Police have now arrested 18 people in total for the lynching.
- Main suspect Pradeep Mangaraj was caught on video assaulting the victim.
- The whole violence started after an accusation of sexual harassment following a minor road accident .
After that small accident,an argument happened and one of the girls accused Soumya of making inappropriate advance . That one accusation was enough to trigger locals. A crowd gathered so fast and they just lynched him.
It’s crazy how quickly mob can form and deliver its own "justice" without any trial,any proof . The National Human Rights Commission team is also in Odisha now,looking into whole case.
But you have to wonder what goes through people's minds . To see a situation and just join in violence without even knowing what really happened… it’s a scary thought…
