Looks like Maharashtra politics is entering another chaotic phase before Legislative Council elections on June 18 . It's not just one party, but both ruling MahaYuti and opposition MVA are facing massive rebellion from inside .
And tbh,it feels like everyone is fighting everyone rn. Many big leaders are just ignoring party orders and filing their own independent nominations, directly challenging official candidates . The leadership must be having sleepless nights trying to control this whole mess.
The situation in MahaYuti alliance is particularly bad . In Raigad for example, the NCP has officially chosen Aniket Tatkare . But now Juili Dalvi, who is daughter of Shiv Sena leader Mahendra Dalvi, has also filed her papers . This is alliance partners fighting each other openly .
And it gets even more complicated in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar-Jalna . Here, the BJP's official candidate is Suhas Shirsat, but Sameer Sattar, son of sitting Shiv Sena Minister Abdul Sattar, has decided to go rogue and contest independently. This is not a small thing ah.
This isn't just limited to two places . In Yavatmal,Shiv Sena's Dushyant Chaturvedi is facing rebels from both BJP's Nitin Bhutada and NCP's Sajid Beg . Same story in Pune, where NCP's Vikram Kakade has a rebel problem from BJP’s Pradeep Kand. It's happening in Amravati,Nashik… list is long .
And honestly, this shows deep cracks in these alliances .
Few things standing out clearly in this case:
- Widespread insubordination — Multiple candidates across constituencies are defying party lines .
- Key constituencies under threat — Areas like Pune and Nashik are seeing rebellions that could alter election dynamics.
- Deadline for withdrawal — June 4 marks critical date for resolving conflicts before elections.
But don't think MVA is sitting peacefully . They have their own fires to put out . In Nanded,Congress candidate Ramdas Sumthankar is being challenged by rebel Madhavrao Jawalgaonkar . And in Bhandara-Gondia,the official candidate Dilip Bansod is also facing multiple rebels from within .
Deputy CM Eknath Shinde has admitted there is unrest . He said,"The last date for the withdrawal of nominations is June 4. We will hold direct discussions with all aggrieved leaders until then to find amicable solution." It seems they are trying hard to convince people before deadline.
But will these leaders actually listen and withdraw? Or are we going to see these rebels split the votes and help opposition candidates? The whole thing feels less like a planned election and more like free-for-all…
