Kerala Politics Erupts Over BJP MLA’s Conduct at Tribal School Event

A political row has broken out in Kerala following an event at the Kattela Model Residential School. CPI(M) leader Sivankutty accused BJP MLA V. Muraleedharan of showing insensitivity toward Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe students. During a school admission festival, Muraleedharan reportedly emptied a packet of sweets onto a table for children to pick up instead of handing them out individually. While the BJP defends the action as a gesture of plenty, critics label it as discriminatory and degrading to the children's dignity.

Key Takeaways

  • Sivankutty demands apology from BJP MLA V. Muraleedharan
  • Row over sweet distribution at a tribal school in Kerala
  • BJP rejects claims of discrimination against the students

A really upsetting incident is now coming from Thiruvananthapuram involving politicians and tribal students . And honestly, the whole thing just feels wrong on so many levels .

The controversy is centered around the Kattela Model Residential School, where a function was being held . This event, called Praveshanolsavam, was meant to be a happy day to welcome new students from Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities.

But then a video came out which has started this huge political fight. In the clip,BJP MLA V. Muraleedharan is seen scattering sweets on a table for the students to pick up themselves. Not giving it to them, just scattering it .

And this is where CPI(M) leader V. Sivankutty got involved. He launched a massive attack on Muraleedharan, calling the act "degrading and discriminatory" . He said public representative should have handed the treats to children with basic respect .

And frankly,I have to agree . It's about dignity. You don't just throw things for children to grab, especially not children from marginalized backgrounds. It completely undermines their self-esteem. Not a small thing ah.

Sivankutty also questioned State Minister K.A. Thulasi, who was present at same function . He asked why she just stood there and didn't intervene or say anything to the BJP leader at that time only. Her silence is also being seen as big lapse .

Few key points in this whole mess:

  • Sweets row in Kerala — BJP MLA accused of scattering food for students
  • Demand for apology — Sivankutty labels incident as shameful act
  • Minister's silence questioned — K.A . Thulasi faces heat for not intervening

Now,the Kerala BJP is saying all these allegations are politically motivated . Their explanation is that V. Muraleedharan just put the packet on the table so children could take as many sweets as they wanted, instead of limiting them to one or two.

But that explanation doesn't really change how the action looks to people watching . The visual of scattering food for kids is just not good,no matter what the intention was.

The CPI(M) is not accepting this defense and is continuing to demand formal apology to the students of residential school . whole incident has become a major issue now .

Who is right and who is wrong is for people to decide, but at the end of the day,it’s the children who are caught in middle of this political drama…
