Key Takeaways

  • Electronic devices found in cocaine shipment
  • Operation led to seizure of 119 kg of cocaine
  • Investigation reveals international drug network

Wow,just read about this massive drug bust in Gujarat and honestly, the details are straight out of some movie. It’s not just about the drugs,it’s the tech they used.

So Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has made this huge seizure, around 119 kg of cocaine valued at about ₹1,150 crore . This is one of India's largest cocaine seizures, not small thing ah .

But craziest part is how they found the drugs were being tracked . Inside the cocaine packets, investigators found four Apple AirTags and two Garmin GPS units hidden. Seriously, they were using everyday tracking devices for this .

And tbh, this shows how sophisticated these international drug syndicates have become . Using simple tech that anyone can buy online to manage a multi-crore drug shipment.

This whole thing happened on May 26 off coast of Mundra in Kutch district . It was joint operation by Gujarat ATS and the Indian Coast Guard. They were monitoring a cargo vessel,MV Europe, after getting some intelligence. During operation, crew members apparently started throwing bags into the sea.

Authorities then managed to recover five floating bags . Inside were 115 packets of cocaine, weighing nearly 118.977 kg.

Few things standing out clearly in this case:

  • Cocaine's origin is traced back to Brazil, sent via sea routes.
  • One Tanzanian crew member,Juma Nasir Omar, was arrested but another is still missing .
  • Forensic analysis of the tracking devices is now underway to find the full route.

Investigators believe the drugs were hidden on ship back in November 2025 on orders from some international handlers . arrested crew member only revealed that the narcotics were hidden in ship's motor room .

And now the ATS has also detained two individuals from Delhi who are believed to be connected to this consignment,so the network seems quite widespread.

Now everyone is just waiting to see what forensic analysis of these AirTags and GPS devices will show . All that data could help them reconstruct the entire journey and maybe expose more people involved in this whole operation… makes you think what else is being tracked like this right now…
