This Ghazipur case is honestly very disturbing because it is not just murder story,it is also turning into serious allegation against local police . Vineet Rai,a 29-year-old hotelier,was shot dead by four masked assailants in Kotwali area of Ghazipur,Uttar Pradesh and now his father Alok Rai is openly saying much bigger problem is behind it.
And according to Alok Rai,this was not some random attack . He has alleged that police are complicit with an extortion gang known as Katra Gang,which he believes is responsible for his son's murder . Big allegation ah,and not small thing when grieving father is saying it publicly .
Alok Rai has claimed gang members were running illegal activities near family business and local police overlooked everything . He says prime suspect already has history of criminal activities and operates close to their work area . His words were,“This incident has been carried out together by all of them,”
But what makes this even more serious is his allegation that local gang members and village head were involved,with village head allegedly giving shelter to gang . Again,these are allegations from family side,but seriousness is clear.
Family also says they were facing extortion threats before and after murder . First demand was ₹20 lakh and later it allegedly went up to ₹1 crore . Imagine living with this kind of pressure and still feeling police are not acting.
Few things standing out clearly in this case:
- Alok Rai alleges police inaction has enabled Katra Gang operations .
- He is demanding encounters and bulldozer operations against gang members and illegal constructions linked to them.
- Family says extortion threats started with ₹20 lakh and later escalated to ₹1 crore.
And tbh,when father says “The law-and-order situation in Ghazipur is zero.”,you can feel frustration more than anything else . He says he has already submitted multiple complaints to DGP,ADG Varanasi and even Chief Minister,but no action has happened.
This is where whole matter becomes bigger than one crime case only . If family’s claims are true,then issue is not just shooters,it is fear system around extortion,local power and alleged police silence.
At same time,police investigation is still unfolding,so facts need to come out properly . But public anger is understandable because masked men shooting hotelier dead and family alleging gang-police nexus will obviously shake people.
And now question is whether authorities will actually act on Alok Rai’s complaints or this will also get buried under files,while families keep living with threats…
