Key Takeaways

  • At least 10 civilians forcibly disappeared in Balochistan
  • Security forces conduct extensive operations in multiple districts
  • Rising concern over kidnappings and human rights violations

Just saw some very disturbing reports coming out of Balochistan . And honestly, the scale of these enforced disappearances is just getting out of hand.

On June 1,local media said a huge search operation happened in Killi Mengal region of Nushki . We're talking about 20 military vehicles surrounding the area, which is massive presence .

Residents said it was total chaos, with forces doing house-to-house searches . During this, they detained seven individuals, including Shah Khalid,Mohammad Irfan, and Abdul Basit, and took them to undisclosed locations. Just gone.

And it's not an isolated incident . In a separate case in Hajika area of Surab, two men,Ubaidullah and Khuda Bakhsh, were reportedly detained by the Frontier Corps (FC) during one raid. Their families say they were just farmers, taken without any explanation at all .

And tbh, this is the part that is most chilling . People are just picked up and their families have no idea where they are or even why they were taken.

Few things standing out clearly from these reports:

  • At least ten civilians have been reportedly taken by security forces recently.
  • Families are left with zero information, fearing for safety of their loved ones.
  • Human rights groups believe this is wider pattern of state-sponsored action in Balochistan .

But security situation is even more complicated . On May 29,Khalil Haleem, the young son of businessman, was taken at gunpoint in Tump tehsil . Reports say the kidnappers demanded a big ransom from his family.

Then just one day later on May 30,another businessman Aqeel Akbar was also abducted in Dasht area . This is creating so much alarm about safety of regular residents .

So you have two things happening at same time . On one hand, reports of security forces taking people, and on other hand, armed men kidnapping for ransom . The whole situation feels like it is deteriorating badly .

Local residents are voicing their concerns, questioning if the government can even protect them from these threats . And you can understand their fear ah,it's a very scary environment to live in.

It just feels like a constant state of fear for people there . How can anyone feel safe when you don't know who to be afraid of… the forces or the criminals…
