Just saw this latest report on security situation in Pakistan for May 2026 and honestly,the numbers are just terrifying . It feels like things are getting worse very fast,especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan .
According to the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies report,terrorist incidents jumped to 128 in May . That's up from 101 in April,which is a 27% increase in just one month. Not small thing ah.
And the human cost is just awful . The report says 68 security personnel and six peace committee members lost their lives. But what is truly scary is the increase in civilian deaths. It nearly doubled from 37 to 71,a staggering 92% increase.
But security forces are also taking massive hits . Fatalities among them went up from 28 to 68,which is a 143% rise. And then you have the suicide attacks,six of them,which killed 34 security personnel and nine civilians . This is just a terrible situation for everyone on ground.
Balochistan seems to be most affected rn . The province recorded 71 terrorist attacks in May alone,which is a 109% jump from 34 in April. And kidnappings are also on rise,with 54 reported cases,and 52 of them happened in Balochistan only.
Few things standing out from this report:

The abduction of several university officials in Mastung is a major point they raised . It makes you question everything. HRCP is pushing for real accountability and investigations,not just empty statements. They are saying government needs to do more than just condemn these attacks.
And this isn't just about one area . The violence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,in places like Bannu and Bajaur,shows how militants are attacking more indiscriminately.
