This Mukherjee Nagar case is again one of those stories where small local suspicion turned into full police action . And honestly,it shows how quickly things can move when residents and police both become alert .
Delhi Police conducted targeted operation in Mukherjee Nagar after specific information came about minor altercation between two groups in area . Local residents reportedly got suspicious, and then police were alerted after two individuals were overheard speaking in Bangla .
And from there,things moved fast.
A dedicated police team was formed to check identities of suspected individuals . Team was led by Inspector Rajeev Shah and supported by Head Constables Puneet,Pankaj, and Vinit . After verification, police found that five Bangladeshi nationals had overstayed in India .
Those apprehended have been identified as Rahmat Ullah,Mohd. Ashraful,Salman Bhuiyan,Md. Rashel, and Md. Rahim Mia . All five are aged between 23 and 37,and had reportedly arrived in Delhi from Bangladesh on different dates.
Few main points standing out here:
- Five Bangladeshi nationals apprehended — Rahmat Ullah,Mohd. Ashraful,Salman Bhuiyan,Md. Rashel,and Md. Rahim Mia.
- Illegal stay confirmed — all individuals had shifted to Mukherjee Nagar after their visas expired .
- Deportation proceedings initiated — legal actions are underway in accordance with immigration laws .
Police said their visas had expired while they were seeking employment opportunities in Greece . After their visas lapsed in December 2025,they moved into rented accommodation in Indira Vikas Colony,Mukherjee Nagar, with help of one associate .
And tbh, this Greece job angle makes case even more strange . They were reportedly waiting for job offers from Greece, but in meantime remained in India illegally . That is not small thing ah,especially when immigration rules are involved.
Authorities are now trying to apprehend their associate,Ganpati Biswas ,who allegedly helped arrange accommodation for them . Legal proceedings have started, and arrested individuals were presented before Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) for deportation as per immigration procedures .
But bigger question is how many such cases are sitting quietly in rented rooms across cities, waiting for one small altercation or one suspicious moment to bring everything out…
