This Saidulajab village building collapse is honestly very painful to read, because this was not some small wall falling or minor accident . four-storey building near Saket metro station in South Delhi suddenly came down, and now six confirmed deaths are being reported with multiple injuries.
And what makes it even more disturbing is where debris fell . Reports say it crashed onto nearby tin shed canteen where children were dining . Just imagine normal evening, people eating, and suddenly whole structure gives way… scary beyond words.
Incident happened on evening of May 30 . Eyewitnesses said they heard loud crash, and after that chaos started in area. Local police and rescue teams rushed in quickly as people were trapped under rubble.
According to statement from Delhi Police, they got information about collapse at 7:35 PM . After that, resources were mobilized and initial rescue work managed to save six individuals from debris. A green corridor was also created so injured could be shifted fast to hospitals like AIIMS Trauma Centre and Safdarjung Hospital.
Few facts standing out in this tragedy:
- Six fatalities confirmed, and total six individuals rescued from debris .
- Police registered case of culpable homicide and investigation is underway.
- Chief Minister Rekha Gupta ordered magisterial inquiry into collapse and nearby hazardous buildings.
But tbh, this is where anger also comes in . Police have confirmed building was under construction and had not received required approvals. If that is correct, then this was not just bad luck ah,this was waiting to become disaster.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also visited site to oversee operations . She spoke about strict action against unauthorized constructions and said government will not tolerate negligence . She also said those responsible for building's state will face consequences.
And police are now conducting raids to understand how structure failed and who all were involved . Rescue teams have stayed active since incident, trying to make sure injured people get medical care and nobody is left behind under debris.
Still, for local community, this shock will not go away easily. People are asking same thing again and again — how does under construction building without required approvals reach this point near busy area only…
And until inquiry actually fixes responsibility, one question stays hanging there… how many more dangerous buildings are standing quietly around people right now…
