This whole AAP-Gujarat Police issue has now become proper political mess,and honestly,it is difficult to see it as just one simple phone call case anymore . AAP leader Ashok Oza is now strongly denying police claim that he planned fake Intelligence Bureau (IB) call to scare party worker.
Controversy started on May 28 ,when former Delhi MLA Durgesh Pathak posted on social media alleging that IB wing of Gujarat Police was harassing AAP workers . Then matter got bigger after AAP Convenor Arvind Kejriwal also publicly questioned whether police action was genuine,and claimed he had called number linked to allegations .
But Gujarat Police moved fast after that . Investigation was launched and Ashok Oza,who heads AAP's Vadodara city unit,was arrested along with another person,Nitin Dobariya . Police version says AAP worker Keshav Chauhan received call from someone pretending to be IB official from "Karelibaug IB Office."
And this is where story becomes more confusing ah . Police investigators suggested this was not random prank call,but part of bigger plan connected to internal party rivalries . Their claim is that Oza allegedly saw Chauhan as competitor after Chauhan got new organizational responsibilities in Vadodara.
Few things standing out clearly in this case:
- Ashok Oza has strongly denied instructing anyone to impersonate IB official .
- Police say call to Keshav Chauhan came from someone falsely claiming to be from "Karelibaug IB Office."
- Case is being investigated under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita,2023 and Information Technology Act.
During his first public response after arrest,Oza said police story is fabricated . He claimed he never told anyone to make such call,and said one police inspector questioned him for approximately two hours . But according to him,most questions were not even about fake call,they were about AAP's organizational structure and funding sources.
That part is what makes matter politically sensitive . If interrogation was really more about party structure and finances,then obviously AAP will say this is intimidation . At same time,police are saying there was false impersonation and internal rivalry angle. Two completely different stories running parallel rn.
Oza also directly targeted Gujarat's Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi . He accused state government of turning incident into political weapon,and asked whether government wants to do politics through intimidation and false accusations . He also rejected claim that internal party rivalry pushed him into this mess,and repeated his loyalty to AAP .
And now whole thing is stuck between police investigation and political counter-attack . Was this actually fake IB call conspiracy,or is it being used to dig into AAP's internal working… that question is still hanging there.
