Fuel price anger is again spilling on streets in Maharashtra, and honestly, this is not some small issue ah . When petrol, diesel,LPG and CNG start pinching daily life, common people feel it immediately.
Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee, led by Harshwardhan Sapkal, has started protests against recent hikes in petrol and diesel prices . Over past eight days, fuel prices have increased four times, and that alone explains why tempers are rising.
Sapkal did not soften words also. He said,"The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government has crippled common man by imposing steep price hikes on petrol, diesel,LPG,and CNG." And this line is basically what many households are feeling in their own monthly budget rn .
During protest,Sapkal also accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi administration of making life harder for people already struggling with inflation . He claimed,"There is no petrol,no diesel,LPG cylinders are missing, fuel prices have skyrocketed, and farmers are not getting fair prices for their produce."
And see, this is where issue goes beyond just filling tank . Fuel cost touches transport, food prices, farming cost, small business, almost everything . So when opposition says anger is growing,it does not sound surprising.
Few points standing out from these protests:
- Over the past eight days, fuel prices have increased four times.
- Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee, led by Harshwardhan Sapkal,is leading protests against petrol and diesel hikes.
- Shashikant Shinde,President of Nationalist Congress Party, warned that massive statewide agitation could erupt if injustices against farmers continue.
Shashikant Shinde also said recent protests have already shaken ruling government, and he accused Chief Minister of dismissing opposition protests as mere political stunts . But tbh, calling everything political stunt may not work when farmers and ordinary citizens are actually out on roads.
Protests have included rasta rokos (road blockades) and marches in onion-producing regions like Chandwad and Nashik district . During these demonstrations, numerous farmers and party workers have faced police detainment, and that only adds more heat to already tense situation.
Shinde also pushed point that ruling coalition should deal with state issues more seriously instead of looking towards Delhi for every answer . That irony is hard to ignore, especially when local anger is happening in Maharashtra itself .
And now opposition is clearly trying to build pressure across Maharashtra . Whether government listens,or whether this turns into bigger statewide agitation,is still hanging there…
