On June 1, 2026,Congress party intensified criticism of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and demanded his resignation over serious issues around CBSE evaluation process .
Whole controversy is around Central Board of Secondary Education and its On-Screen Marking system,OSM . Allegations are that student assessments got compromised because of mismatched answer sheets and other procedural lapses. For students who depend on marks for next step in life, this kind of thing creates real stress.
Congress MP Jairam Ramesh raised matter on social media and said Prime Minister's government lacks accountability and ethical standards . He also pointed out that CBSE had earlier denied any cybersecurity vulnerabilities in OSM system, but now has acknowledged its shortcomings.
And honestly, this is where questions become uncomfortable.
Ramesh asked what action is being taken against contractor,COEMPT,which was responsible for implementing system . He also raised doubts about tender process and accused government of shielding COEMPT . That is serious allegation because if evaluation system itself is under doubt, students are ones paying price first.
Few things standing out clearly in this issue:
- Congress is demanding resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over CBSE evaluation issues .
- Questions are being raised about contractor COEMPT and integrity of its work.
- Students' mental well-being has been affected because fair evaluation is directly linked to academic future.
Another part which looks strange is about CBSE's Request for Proposal,RFP,from August 2025 . According to Ramesh,it originally had provisions to blacklist vendors if they failed to perform properly. But then CBSE issued a corrigendum in September and removed this right .
Now see, this is exactly why people start doubting transparency . If there was earlier power to blacklist poor-performing vendors, why remove it later? And if OSM system already had complaints, why was system allowed to reach this point only?
Congress is saying government is putting political agenda above integrity of examination system . Maybe government will give its own explanation, but rn public concern is very simple: were students marked fairly or not?
Because for officials this may look like file, contract, tender, corrigendum . But for students, this is admission pressure, family pressure, career pressure and mental pressure all together. One wrong evaluation can change future direction completely.
And that is why this CBSE issue cannot just be treated like routine technical glitch . If answer sheets were mismatched and procedures failed, then who takes responsibility for damage already done…
