Another disturbing case has come from Sakti district of Chhattisgarh, and honestly, this one is hard to read calmly . Malkharoda Police arrested Rakesh Tandon,a 26-year-old man,on May 29 for allegedly kidnapping and raping woman after befriending her online.
Victim had approached police on May 25 and shared what happened to her . As per complaint, she came in contact with Tandon, who lives in Themhapara, through Instagram . He allegedly used marriage proposal to gain her trust, and that itself feels so manipulative.
Police say he lured her to Mission Chowk on May 11 and then took her to remote area . From there, case allegedly moved across places, with suspect taking woman through Gondia to Karad-Malkapur region in Maharashtra .
And this is where things become even more frightening . Tandon reportedly destroyed victim's SIM card so she could not call for help or contact family . That kind of isolation is not small thing ah,it shows control and planning.
Few key facts standing out here:
- Victim approached police on May 25 after alleged kidnapping and sexual abuse .
- Cyber Cell tracked digital movements and arrest happened on May 29.
- Authorities filed FIR 198/2026 under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
While she was allegedly held in house in Maharashtra, victim faced constant physical and sexual abuse . Tandon also allegedly threatened to harm her family members if she tried to escape or resist . Imagine fear she must have been living with during those days.
Superintendent of Police Prafull Thakur supervised search for absconding suspect using technical intelligence . Later, investigators got tip that accused had returned to his home in Bilaspur . Police team then quickly surrounded location and took him into custody.
During questioning,Tandon reportedly admitted to charges and local court has sent him to judicial remand . But tbh, bigger question is how easily online trust, marriage talk and emotional manipulation can turn into such dangerous trap…
And somewhere, there is still that uneasy feeling about how many such cases don't even reach police in time…
