This Chandernagore Municipal Corporation (CMC) situation in West Bengal honestly looks like full-blown political mess now . When 30 out of the 31 councillors resign in just 24 hours,including Mayor Ram Chakraborty,this is not normal local body drama.
And what makes it more serious is that most of these councillors are from Trinamool Congress . CMC has mostly been under Trinamool Congress control since political shift in West Bengal,but now same corporation is standing close to dissolution.
The resignations did not start all at once also . First,six councillors stepped down over past few days,and then whole thing snowballed badly . After that,30 out of the 31 councillors sent resignations through email to both CMC chairperson and commissioner.
