So Central government finally took some action on this whole CBSE marking controversy . Seeing the Chairman and Secretary both transferred on same day is not small thing ah .
And this all happened on June 2,2026,amid huge public anger from students and parents over the new On-Screen Marking (OSM) system . There were serious allegations about irregularities in how they hired companies for this OSM service.
Honestly,this whole situation was getting very messy.
The OSM system was new for Class 12 board exams this year . Idea was that evaluators would check scanned copies of answer sheets on computer,not physical papers . It was supposed to make things faster but instead it just created one big controversy about fairness.
But now government has also set up one inquiry committee to do proper investigation into the whole thing . They will look into claims that some vendors were given contracts by relaxing the rules for them.
Few things are clear from this whole episode:
- CBSE officials transferred — Chairman Rahul Singh and Secretary Himanshu Gupta removed from their roles.
- Inquiry committee established — Aimed at investigating procurement irregularities in OSM.
- Re-evaluation portal launched — CBSE opens facility for students to challenge assessments .
And in response to all the pressure,CBSE has also opened a re-evaluation portal for students . This also became active on June 2,2026,same day only.
This portal is for students who want to apply for verification or get specific answers re-evaluated if they feel marking was not right . It's a way to give students some chance to get things corrected .
But tbh,is it enough? The amount of stress students went through is huge.
These actions show government is trying to maintain some integrity in the education system . But public trust has already been shaken badly. future of so many students depends on these exams.
Now everyone will be watching what this inquiry committee finds out . But will it really change how CBSE works in long run,or is this just a temporary fix to calm down the situation for now…
