He highlighted that out of the candidates who appeared for the examination, 1,236 progressed to the interview stage, ultimately leading to the selection of the final 404. The Chief Minister commended the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission for conducting the examination in a transparent and timely manner, ensuring that meritocracy prevailed.
- Reform-driven recruitment — The state government has implemented reforms to address past irregularities in the recruitment process, ensuring credibility.
- Role of Junior Engineers — Newly appointed engineers will be essential in driving infrastructure development across various departments.
- Focus on training — The government plans to facilitate professional training for the engineers to enhance their skills before field postings.
Khandu also discussed the establishment of the Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board (APSSB) in 2017, which aims to streamline recruitment for Group C positions, ensuring equal opportunities for all candidates. He emphasized that the reforms were inspired by the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who advocates for systemic improvements to boost Arunachal Pradesh’s growth trajectory.
In terms of infrastructure development, Khandu stressed the importance of maintaining quality and timely execution of projects. The newly recruited engineers will play a crucial role in ensuring that government projects, such as roads, bridges, and public buildings, meet the highest standards. He also mentioned that many quality issues arise from inadequate technical supervision, indicating the need for skilled engineers in project monitoring.
To prepare these engineers for their roles, the Chief Minister announced that they would initially be assigned to planning and design wings within various departments. This hands-on experience under senior officers will be vital before they take on site responsibilities.
