This Ayodhya donation controversy is now turning into full political firestorm only . And this time,Akhilesh Yadav, the chief of Samajwadi Party, has directly targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi 's government over alleged irregularities in donations for Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
On June 18,2026,Yadav claimed that Ayodhya would become BJP's 'Kurukshetra' . Basically,he said same place where BJP's political journey started could become battleground where it ends also . Big statement, not small thing ah.
In his social media statement,he wrote,"Ayodhya will prove to be the battlefield for the BJP,where their politics began and will end." And honestly, that line is clearly meant to hit BJP where it is most sensitive,Ayodhya and Ram Temple politics.
Yadav also claimed recent incidents linked to temple donations have badly affected pilgrim visits . According to him, number of people coming to sacred site has gone down, and that is now hurting local businesses depending on religious tourism .
Few things standing out in this whole issue:
- Declining Pilgrim Footfall — The controversies have led to a noticeable drop in visitors .
- Impact on Local Businesses — Local economies dependent on tourism are suffering.
- Call for Transparency — Yadav demands regular updates on the investigation.
And tbh, this is where matter becomes more uncomfortable . If devotees start feeling suspicious about donation process, then damage is not just political,it becomes emotional also . Faith getting shaken is serious thing .
Yadav said lack of clarity around donation issues has created suspicion and tension among residents and worshippers . He also alleged ordinary citizens should not suffer because of government mismanagement, which is point opposition is pushing hard rn.
He further highlighted reports of local residents hesitating to visit temple because they fear being pulled into ongoing investigations . That kind of atmosphere around religious place sounds very strange, because people are supposed to feel peace there, not fear.
At same time,Yadav has questioned credibility of Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing donation discrepancies . He linked this to broader allegations of corruption under BJP administration, and even referred to similar irregularities reported in Mathura while asking for high-level inquiry there also.
Now opposition parties are demanding more transparency and accountability from state government . But real question is,if faith, politics, donations and investigation all get mixed together like this, how does Ayodhya come out of it without more damage…
