Big match comes, real fans struggle for tickets, and suddenly some people start treating tickets like private business .
Ahmedabad Crime Branch arrested two individuals on May 29,2026,for allegedly black marketing tickets for Indian Premier League (IPL) final . Match is scheduled on May 31 at Narendra Modi Stadium, and demand was already very high since tickets went on sale earlier this month.
Arrest happened during routine patrol operation on Sindhu Bhavan Road, where police were already monitoring unauthorized ticket resales . Acting on specific intelligence, they found suspects with four IPL final tickets.
The accused have been identified as Mann Patel , 19,and Safiq alias Bunny Mohammad Ayub Ansari , 24 . Police said each ticket was originally priced at ₹3,500,but was allegedly being offered for resale at ₹10,000 . That jump is not small thing ah.
Few things standing out clearly here:
- Four IPL final tickets were seized, originally priced at ₹3,500 and allegedly meant for resale at ₹10,000.
- Police deployed teams across Ahmedabad to monitor illegal ticket sales before big match .
- Earlier this year, two men were arrested for similar offenses during T20 World Cup.
And tbh, this is where anger of normal fans makes sense . Someone waits online, tries official route, pays proper price, and then tickets somehow appear in black at almost three times rate . Same pattern keeps repeating before major cricket matches only.
Police have registered case against accused under specific sections of Gujarat Police Act . Along with tickets, they also seized two mobile phones allegedly used in operation, including high-value models with combined worth of ₹1.25 lakh.
Authorities are saying crackdown is meant to stop ticket touting and protect fans from scalpers . Ahmedabad has hosted many high-profile matches in recent years,so this issue is not new for city also.
But bigger question is still hanging there . If police are catching people on road with four tickets, how many more tickets are moving quietly through calls, groups and contacts before final night…
