When someone says a political leader was assaulted and then not admitted by two hospitals after that,it naturally raises questions ah.
Abhishek Banerjee,the General Secretary of Trinamool Congress and Member of Parliament,was reportedly taken for medical care after assault earlier that day in Sonarpur,South 24 Paraganas district of West Bengal . Security forces had escorted him out from volatile situation first .
He was initially taken to a private hospital near East Metropolitan Bypass . But then Mamata Banerjee,his aunt and former Chief Minister,arrived there and got upset,saying hospital was not giving proper treatment to her nephew.
After that,Abhishek Banerjee was shifted to another private hospital in Minto Park for more examination . There,doctors assessed him in Intensive Treatment Unit (ITU) and finally said admission was not needed.
Medical certificate reportedly stated,“no admission required.” It also said no significant internal injuries were found and Banerjee was fully conscious . Doctors prescribed some medicines,including digestive tablet,which honestly made whole situation sound even more strange to people watching from outside.
Few things standing out clearly here:

And this is where political angle became bigger than medical angle . Mamata Banerjee accused both hospitals of bowing to pressure from Kolkata Police’s deputy commissioner and denying proper treatment to Abhishek Banerjee.
She said,“First, they won the elections through forgery and hooliganism. After that,they assaulted Abhishek. And now finally,they have pressured so that he was not properly treated.” That is not small allegation only,especially when it involves hospitals and police pressure in same sentence.
Rahul Gandhi,the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha,also reportedly reached out to Mamata Banerjee and offered help for Banerjee’s treatment at any hospital outside West Bengal . That part shows how quickly this incident moved beyond one hospital visit and became national political talking point.
After all this,Abhishek Banerjee returned to his residence on Kalighat Road in south Kolkata,close to his aunt’s home . But rn,the bigger question is still hanging there — was this just medical judgement by doctors,or was there really political pressure behind hospital decisions…
