This Janibai case from Madhya Pradesh is honestly very disturbing . Skeletal remains of young woman found in Gandhisagar forest,and after that whole local community is angry,grieving and asking same thing again and again — why was action not faster?
On June 20 ,skeletal remains identified as Janibai were found after she had been missing for over week . She was resident of Salarmala village and was last seen on June 12 when she left for her in-laws' home in Rawatbhata.
Her family says they were in touch with her till she reached Gandhisagar area . After that,communication suddenly stopped . And when her in-laws said she had not reached home,panic started properly.
Family then began searching and checked CCTV footage . According to them,they saw one local youth known as Ballu following her bus on motorcycle . After this,they filed missing person report on June 13 .
And this is where anger of family seems very understandable ah . They are alleging police did not act quickly on leads given by them,and that if action had happened on time,outcome maybe could have been different.
Few things standing out in this case:
- Janibai was last seen on June 12 while going to Rawatbhata.
- Family filed missing person report on June 13 after allegedly spotting Ballu following her bus on motorcycle.
- Skeletal remains were found in Gandhisagar forest on June 20 ,along with belongings including clothing and an anklet.
After remains and belongings were found,anger spilled onto Neemuch-Jhalawar highway . Family members and local residents blocked traffic for hours,not just in grief but in frustration over police handling of case .
During protest,Janibai's father spoke with despair and accused police of negligence,basically saying they failed to protect his daughter . That kind of pain is not small thing,especially when family feels they were shouting for help from beginning only.
Later,SDOP Nikita Singh and Manasa police SHO Nilesh Awasthi reached scene and assured family that investigation will be done properly . Police also said one youth has been detained for questioning,and conduct of police station in charge is being checked for possible lapses.
Tbh,this case again shows how scary missing person cases can become in rural areas when every hour matters . Community is mourning Janibai,but they are also demanding accountability and justice . And bigger question is still hanging there — if family had leads from early stage,why did things reach this point…
