Fuel price issue in Maharashtra is again becoming big political flashpoint, and honestly,Vijay Wadettiwar’s warning on May 28,2026 sounds quite serious . This is not just normal petrol-diesel complaint now,he is saying situation is moving towards something much worse.
Vijay Wadettiwar, the leader of the Maharashtra Congress Legislative Party, accused BJP government of using 'religious polarization and emotional manipulation' to shift public attention away from inflation and unemployment . And this is where matter becomes more uncomfortable, because common people are already struggling with daily expenses.
He said public is facing rising fuel prices, and farmers are getting hit badly because diesel is directly connected to agricultural work . For farmer, diesel is not luxury ah,it is basic requirement for pumps, tractors, transport and whole farming cycle .
And now diesel being rationed makes situation even more tense . Wadettiwar highlighted that fuel distribution is happening after checking vehicle registration certificates, which itself shows supply pressure is not small thing.
Few things standing out clearly here:
- Vijay Wadettiwar warned petrol could soon reach ₹170 per litre and diesel ₹150 per litre .
- BJP government was accused of creating Hindu-Muslim conflicts and using divisive tactics to distract from economic issues .
- Maratha reservation protests by Manoj Jarange Patil were also pointed out as issue being ignored by government .
Wadettiwar also said lack of proper fuel supply is reducing flight frequencies and worsening economic conditions . His words were quite sharp, claiming country is being pushed towards economic abyss if this continues .
But at same time, his bigger attack was political also . He said ruling party is not dealing with real issues and is instead encouraging social divisions in way that undermines Constitution . He also accused ministers of making insensitive comments and forgetting responsibility towards public.
Jayantrao Patil, senior leader from Nationalist Congress Party, also demanded immediate action from Maharashtra government . He asked for VAT and extra surcharges on petrol and diesel to be waived so common man gets some relief from rising prices.
Patil also connected this fuel pressure with ongoing geopolitical tensions in Gulf, which he said are adding more economic strain on India and Maharashtra . And tbh, when fuel prices rise like this, everything else becomes costly only… food, travel, farming, transport, flights.
Question is whether government will actually cut taxes and respond quickly,or whether people will just keep adjusting while prices keep climbing…
