14.2 million students doing yoga together across state sounds almost unreal when you first read it.
Under guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ,Uttar Pradesh marked 12th International Day of Yoga with large-scale participation in schools and other education spaces . This was not just one photo-op type event in one city,it spread across many places at same time .
Schools from council schools to Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas became active centres for yoga sessions . Students, teachers,Shiksha Mitras and parents also joined in,which makes whole thing feel more like community activity than official programme only.
And this part stands out because Yoga Day often becomes symbolic in many places . But here, with sessions in schools,Block Resource Centres and district headquarters,it looked more like attempt to take yoga into daily routine .
Few key things from this event:
- Over 14.2 million students participated from 132,000 schools in Uttar Pradesh.
- Focus was on healthy lifestyle,self-confidence and balanced personality development .
- Yoga Day moved beyond ceremonial event and became wider public participation campaign.
Ganesh Kumar ,Director of State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT),also spoke about yoga as part of India’s ancient knowledge tradition . He said,"Yoga is an invaluable legacy... a powerful tool for developing mental focus,self-discipline and a positive outlook on life."
And tbh, that line makes sense because yoga is not just about bending body or doing one pose for camera . If done properly,it is also about discipline, breathing, focus and calming mind, which students actually need a lot these days.
Throughout day, various yoga postures, pranayama and meditation techniques were practiced . Special sessions also happened in Lucknow ,Varanasi ,and Kanpur ,where teachers and officials spoke about yoga’s effect on daily life .
But real question is what happens after International Yoga Day excitement ends . If same energy continues in schools and homes, then this can become real habit… or else it may again stay as one big annual moment…
