This Hamirpur bridge collapse news is honestly very painful to read, because these were workers doing their job late at night and suddenly whole under-construction structure gave way . And when construction site itself becomes danger zone, what can anyone even say…
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed profound sorrow on May 29,2026 after incident in Hamirpur, where under-construction bridge over Betwa River collapsed . bridge was being built to connect Morakandar and Kandaur villages, but segments and supporting pillars reportedly failed badly.
And this was not small accident ah . At least six workers died and others were injured when construction activities were still going on late at night . Yogi Adityanath called it heartbreaking tragedy and extended condolences to bereaved families.
After collapse, state government moved into relief mode . District administration was directed to act quickly and mobilize support, while officials were also told to coordinate relief operations with SDRF.
Few things standing out clearly in this case:
- Yogi Adityanath announced ₹5 lakh for each family of the deceased .
- Injured workers will get ₹50,000 as financial support .
- District officials were instructed to coordinate relief operations with SDRF .
And at same time, this incident is coming when Uttar Pradesh has already been facing severe weather conditions, including storms and heavy rain . Damage has reportedly been extensive in different areas,so situation is already tense on ground.
Yogi Adityanath also ordered all District Magistrates to assess damage properly and make sure relief funds are disbursed on time . He also emphasized that officials must prioritize health and safety of affected people and ensure medical care for those who need it.
One more thing CM has asked is that updates about relief work and compensation should be shared on social media platforms,so public stays informed . That part matters, because in such tragedies families keep waiting for clear information and sometimes confusion makes pain even worse.
But bigger question is still sitting there . Was this only weather-related failure,or were there safety gaps at construction site too…
