Just read about this horrible accident in Uttarakhand, and honestly,it's just so devastating to hear . A family on Char Dham pilgrimage, and their journey ends like this .
The incident happened on June 2,2026,when an Innova car with pilgrims from Jaisalmer fell into Alaknanda River in Tehri district . It fell around 200 metres, not a small thing ah . The car apparently lost control near Ganga Darshan Hotel in Saknidhar around 10:30 a.m.
And the details are just heartbreaking . Four people are confirmed dead, including a doctor from AIIMS named Dinesh Kumar Mali who was just 27 . His mother Kamala Devi (67),his niece Jahnavi (18),and the driver Akhilesh also lost their lives .
But the tragedy doesn't end there . 12-year-old boy,Ayushman, survived but he is critically injured and has been moved to AIIMS Rishikesh . And three other people,Guddi Devi and her two daughters Narmada and Ashlesha, are still missing.
And honestly, this is the worst part for any family, just waiting for news while rescue operations are going on . uncertainty must be unbearable.
Few things to know about this sad situation:
- The car fell approximately 200 metres into the Alaknanda River.
- Four people have died, and a 12-year-old boy is critically injured.
- Rescue teams are still searching for three missing family members .
According to some eyewitnesses, the Innova was going at high speed before the driver lost control . State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams were sent to spot immediately, but rescue is very difficult . Strong river currents and tough terrain are making the search for missing people very challenging.
The story of doctor,Dinesh Kumar Mali,is particularly sad . He had his MBBS degree from Ukraine and joined AIIMS only about a year ago . He was on this pilgrimage with his parents, and had visited Jaisalmer just days before this happened . His father,Lunaram, luckily stayed back in Haridwar because of health issues and wasn't in the car .
It just makes you think about road safety on these pilgrimage routes . Every year we hear such news from these mountain roads .
And you just feel for the families involved, especially the father who was left behind and the ones still waiting for any news about their loved ones… what can anyone even say at time like this…
