This Tamil Nadu Congress situation is looking quite messy now,and honestly,K. Selvaperunthagai asking to be relieved as TNCC President is not small political development ah .
He reportedly made formal request after meeting All India Congress Committee President Mallikarjun Kharge in Bengaluru . And from what is coming out,this is not some sudden emotional reaction after one meeting only.
Sources close to him are saying Selvaperunthagai had been thinking about stepping down even before recent elections . Main concern seems to be that he is finding it difficult to effectively lead party in Tamil Nadu under current conditions .
And tbh,this is where internal pressure becomes visible.
TNCC’s recent decision to sever ties with DMK,its long-standing ally,has clearly shaken many people inside party . For Congress in Tamil Nadu,DMK was not just another partner,it was major part of anti-BJP political calculation for long time.
Few things standing out clearly here:
