Something really interesting has now come out from world of wildlife research in India where Tejas Thackeray,son of former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray,has identified an entirely new plant species inside dense forests of Arunachal Pradesh . And honestly,the details around this discovery make it even more special than it sounds on surface.
Through Thackeray Wildlife Foundation,Tejas found this new species in Daporijo area of Subansiri Valley . This is not some random forest patch either — Subansiri Valley is considered one of important ecological zones in eastern Himalayan region.
The new species has been named Mitrephora rashmii,in honor of his mother Rashmi Thackeray . She has reportedly been instrumental in nurturing Tejas's interest toward nature and conservation since his childhood . And honestly,that context makes the naming feel very personal and meaningful.
Research documenting this discovery has now been published in scientific journal Feddes Repertorium . That is not small recognition at all — getting published in established scientific journal means this work has been taken seriously by research community.
