This Erode case is honestly disturbing because it involves teacher, student and college space where safety should be basic thing . Rajaram Krishnamurthy,a teacher from private engineering college in Erode, was arrested on June 21,2026 for allegedly sexually harassing a 19-year-old student.
And incident reportedly happened shortly after examination at college in Mettukadai, where Krishnamurthy was serving as external invigilator . That detail makes whole thing feel even more uncomfortable because invigilator is supposed to maintain discipline and trust inside exam setting.
After exam, the student reported harassment and contacted control room herself . Police were alerted through that call, and action seems to have started quickly from there.
Then Singappen Special Force conducted preliminary inquiries at college . Based on student’s allegations,Erode All Women Police Station registered case under Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act .
Few things standing out clearly here:
- Rajaram Krishnamurthy was arrested on June 21, 2026 after student’s complaint.
- Case was registered under Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act.
- Accused has been remanded for further investigation.
And tbh, this is not small thing ah . When student has to report harassment right after exam,it shows how vulnerable students can feel even inside educational institutions .
Police secured Krishnamurthy and started inquiries to gather more evidence regarding incident . Reports also say accused has been remanded, while investigation continues.
At same time, this case has again raised serious concern about conduct of educators in academic institutions . Parents send children to college expecting learning, safety and basic dignity, not fear from people holding authority.
And maybe this is why discussion around awareness, training and strict systems inside colleges keeps coming back again and again . But question is,how many students stay silent before one complaint finally reaches police…
