This Tamil Nadu part-time teachers issue feels honestly very worrying, because we are not talking about few temporary workers here . TNPTF is saying 11,733 part-time teachers are still serving in government schools across state without proper regularisation, and that is not small thing ah.
The Tamil Nadu Part-time Teachers’ Federation (TNPTF) has now made urgent appeal to education authorities, asking them to regularise employment of these teachers . Their point is simple only: people have been working for over 16 academic years, but salary and job security have not really improved in way they expected .
Appointed in 2016 ,these teachers are handling subjects like Physical Education,Art,and Computer Science . These are not side activities in today’s school life also, because students need exposure beyond textbook learning .
And according to S. Senthilkumar ,secretary of TNPTF,situation is becoming more serious now . Approximately 4,000 part-time teachers have retired, passed away,or left their positions in the past 15 years, which means workforce has already come down badly .
Many of remaining teachers are now over age 50 . So even if government acts late, their active service years are already limited, and that makes whole delay feel more unfair .
Few things standing out clearly here:
- 11,733 part-time teachers are seeking regularisation in Tamil Nadu government schools .
- Approximately 4,000 part-time teachers have retired,passed away,or left in the past 15 years.
- Many remaining educators are over age 50,raising concern about how long system can depend on them .
TNPTF is also saying government should regularise existing part-time teachers before filling new vacancies . And tbh, this demand does sound reasonable, because experienced people already inside classrooms should not keep waiting endlessly while new recruitment discussions move ahead.
There is also student side of story . If teachers handling Physical Education,Art,and Computer Science remain insecure about job every year, how will schools build steady co-curricular learning? Stability for teachers directly affects students only.
Now federation is urging policymakers in new government to act quickly on this matter . But question is,after so many years of waiting, will these teachers finally get regularisation or again be asked to continue somehow…
