What start to T20 Mumbai League 2026 ah. North Mumbai Panthers captained by Ajinkya Rahane just beat Suryakumar Yadav's Triumph Knights . And it was proper high-scoring T20 match at Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday.
The Panthers really showed their batting power. They were put to bat first and they just hammered the bowlers, setting a huge target of 210 runs. That's a massive score in any T20 game.
The main hero was Hardik Tamore who scored brilliant 67 runs from only 43 balls. His innings had nine boundaries and two sixes. He and Rahane started things perfectly with a 67 run partnership. Rahane himself made a quick 24.
And it wasn't just them. The middle order also did their job properly. Aayush Zimare scored 23,Ayush Vartak got 39,and then Tanush Kotian came and finished things with an unbeaten 30 off 15 balls . That final push was very important.
And honestly, when you are chasing 210,the pressure is on from very first ball .
Triumph Knights had a shaky start to their innings . They lost both openers for cheap, and then all eyes were on Suryakumar Yadav . crowd went wild when he came to bat. But he only managed 19 runs before getting out to the left-arm spinner Rahul Sawant. That was a huge moment in match.
Despite the loss, you have to appreciate Nutan Goel's fight . He played a fantastic solo innings of 93 from 56 balls. He and Harshal Jadhav put up a 55 run partnership for fifth wicket, but it was just too late. The Knights ended their innings at 188 for 8,falling short by 21 runs.
Few things standing out from this match:
- Panthers' batting was top-class,with Hardik Tamore's 67 setting the pace .
- Nutan Goel's lone warrior knock of 93 was incredible but wasn't enough.
- Rahane's captaincy looked really good, especially how he used his bowlers to defend the big total.
This was such an exciting opener for the 2026 season. The Panthers have already shown they are serious contenders this year.
But for Knights,it's a tough loss . They really need their big names like SKY to perform if they want to make a comeback. Makes you think how the other teams are watching this and planning their own strategies now…
