So BCCI has officially appointed Sairaj Bahutule as the spin bowling coach for senior men's team . And honestly, this feels like a very sensible decision for long time.
For those who don't remember him playing,Bahutule was a former all-rounder . He represented India in two Tests and eight One-Day Internationals . Not huge international career, but his domestic experience is where real story is .
And what a domestic career it was . In first-class cricket spanning almost two decades,he scored over 6,176 runs and took 630 wickets. That is not small thing ah. He was a proper stalwart in domestic circuit.
This is kind of deep experience you want in coaching staff .
His coaching journey is also very impressive . He has been head coach for teams like Vidarbha,Kerala,Gujarat, and Bengal,so he knows how to handle different dressing rooms and develop young talent. He has been around the system for long time.
Few things to note about this appointment:
- His extensive coaching experience with various domestic teams is a big plus.
- He was also important part of India's success at ICC Under-19 Men's Cricket World Cup .
- He is clearly focused on bringing excellence to the spin department .
And Bahutule himself sounds very excited about this new role . He said,"It is tremendous honour to be appointed as the Spin Bowling Coach of Indian Men's Cricket Team." You can tell he is proud to serve Indian cricket again .
But it's not just about past glory . His recent work at BCCI's National Cricket Academy is very important, nurturing the next generation of players . This shows he is in touch with the current crop of talent coming through.
Tbh,this appointment feels less like a big glamour name and more like getting the right person for job . Someone who has done hard yards in coaching.
With this move,BCCI is trying to make sure our spin department stays strong on world stage . Now it's about how he works with the current players and builds for the future…
