This Ram Temple in Ayodhya investigation is now looking quite serious, and honestly,it is not small thing ah when issue is about offerings made by devotees . Gold, silver, precious stones, cash… these are not just records on paper for people, there is emotion also attached.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing alleged financial misconduct linked to Ram Temple in Ayodhya has now told trust and temple officials to remain in city . That itself shows SIT does not want people moving around while questioning and checking is still going on.
As per reports, this direction came after inconsistencies were found in records relating to offerings . These offerings included valuable items such as gold, silver, and precious stones made by devotees, and that is where matter becomes more uncomfortable.
The SIT has three members, and they gave this instruction before leaving for Lucknow on June 21, 2026 . Investigation is still going on,and team is said to be sending daily updates to Chief Minister's Office .
And tbh,the Maha Kumbh Mela angle makes whole thing even more messy . Temple sources have indicated that one main finding is around documentation of valuable donations during huge devotee rush in early 2025. During that time, nearly 10 lakh devotees visited temple daily,so yes, tracking everything must have been difficult . But difficulty and missing clarity are two different things.
Investigators reportedly found that several officials from temple trust could not satisfactorily explain inventory and storage of these offerings . That is serious because when donations are coming from public faith, system has to be extra clean only.
Few things standing out in this case:
- SIT is also examining temple trust's land acquisitions, which were allegedly made at inflated prices.
- SIT is providing daily updates to Chief Minister's Office regarding findings and progress.
- Allegations of misappropriation have drawn attention from Aam Aadmi Party and Samajwadi Party .
The temple trust has said it is committed to transparency and cooperation with SIT . That response was expected, but now real test is whether records, storage details and land purchase papers actually match properly or not.
And this is where bigger question comes in . Religious organisations handling such huge donations cannot run on trust alone, there has to be accountability also. The SIT is expected to prepare report and place findings before Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, but till then one uncomfortable question stays hanging… what exactly happened to all those offerings?
