Madan Rathore,Rajasthan State President of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP),has openly condemned remarks made by RLP MP Hanuman Beniwal, and he is clearly not treating it like some routine political fight.
Rathore spoke during press conference and said language being used by some politicians is vulgar, indecent and unacceptable . His main concern was that such talk is not just personal attack, but also damages traditions of democracy and political decorum.
He said,"The use of abusive language in politics is extremely unfortunate and shameful." And tbh, that line pretty much sums up mood of this whole issue.
Rathore also made point that political opposition is normal in democracy . Parties will fight, leaders will question each other, that is expected only . But crossing basic dignity in public discussion is different matter ah.
Few things standing out clearly here:
- Call for purification in politics — Rathore emphasized need for respectful dialogue to restore public trust .
- Condemnation by former BJP leaders — Other BJP officials echoed Rathore's sentiments and stressed linguistic decorum .
- Concern over democratic values — Leaders warned that indecent comments could harm integrity of political institutions .
And this is where role of media also came in . Rathore urged media to play proactive role in discouraging leaders who use abusive language, basically saying that public platforms should not reward this kind of behaviour again and again.
Former BJP State President Ashok Parnami also supported Rathore's view . He said public representatives must uphold dignity of their offices and communicate in civil way, which honestly should be basic expectation from elected leaders.
Dr. Arun Chaturvedi,Chairman of the Rajasthan State Finance Commission, also spoke about old tradition of civil dialogue in Indian politics . His concern was that recent trend of crossing decency limits for political gain is harmful for democratic fabric .
Minister of State for Home Jawahar Singh Bedham too criticised Beniwal's language and called it inappropriate for a Member of Parliament . But bigger question is still hanging there… if leaders themselves keep lowering standard of debate, then what kind of politics are people supposed to trust…
