Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) won in penalty shootout, but for long time it really looked like Arsenal had full chance to take title.
Arsenal started like team carrying confidence from recent English Premier League triumph . Kai Havertz scored stunning goal from tight angle and suddenly Gunners were in control, pressing well, attacking with belief and looking sharper in early exchanges.
And at same time, their defending was not small thing ah . Gabriel and William Saliba did proper job in first half, cutting off PSG’s threats and making life frustrating for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). Ousmane Dembélé and Désiré Doué both tried chances from outside box,but nothing really opened up because Arsenal’s defensive shape stayed strong.
But football turns very quickly only . Cristhian Mosquera fouled Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and PSG got penalty . Dembélé stepped up and made no mistake, sending David Raya wrong way to make it level .
Few things standing out clearly from this final:
- Arsenal's early dominance came through Kai Havertz and one stunning goal from tight angle.
- PSG's equalizer came after Cristhian Mosquera fouled Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Dembélé scored penalty .
- Arsenal missed two penalties in shootout, and that basically sealed their fate.
Second half became more tense than beautiful . PSG tried to push momentum their side, but Arsenal’s defense still stayed stubborn . Late in game,Vitinha and substitute Gonçalo Ramos both came close for PSG,and those moments must have scared Arsenal fans badly.
Then extra time came and both teams looked like they were fighting nerves more than each other . Clear chances became rare, and match went into first penalty shootout in a Champions League final since 2016 . Tbh,that alone tells how heavy pressure was on both sides.
In shootout,Eberechi Eze missed first attempt for Arsenal, while Nuno Mendes saw his effort saved by David Raya . But final blow came when Gabriel missed, and that confirmed PSG’s victory . Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) became first team to retain UEFA Champions League title since Real Madrid in 2018 .
For PSG,this win adds another big chapter to their European story and again shows their dominance on continental stage . But for Arsenal, this will hurt differently because they had early lead, control, defensive discipline… and still watched trophy slip away from spot kicks…
