This Karnataka political fight has now taken very sharp turn after resignation of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah . And honestly,Pralhad Joshi’s reaction is not just normal criticism,it is full attack on Congress and LoP Rahul Gandhi.
On May 28,Union Minister for Food and Public Distribution,Pralhad Joshi spoke to reporters in Mangaluru and called Siddaramaiah’s resignation insult to OBC community . His line was very direct: "Siddaramaiah’s resignation is a gift given by LoP Rahul Gandhi to the OBC community."
And that statement only shows how BJP is trying to frame whole episode . Not just as Congress internal issue,but as Congress humiliating its own OBC face in Karnataka.
Joshi said Congress keeps talking loudly about Other Backward Classes,but when it came to power structure,they removed their only OBC Chief Minister in states they govern . He pointed out that out of four states ruled by Congress,three have Chief Ministers from upper castes . Then he added,"Every day, Congress leaders speak loudly about OBCs. But today,they have removed and humiliated only OBC Chief Minister they had."
Few things Joshi targeted clearly:
- Congress's internal instability and what he called administrative chaos over last three years.
- Comparison with Rajiv Gandhi and treatment of former Karnataka Chief Minister Veerendra Patil .
- Economic mismanagement allegations against Congress government in Karnataka.
But tbh,this OBC angle is where politics becomes more uncomfortable . Because Congress has been projecting itself as party speaking for backward classes,so Joshi is now using Siddaramaiah’s resignation to question that whole claim.
He also attacked Siddaramaiah’s farewell remarks where blame was put on central government for Karnataka’s financial troubles . Joshi argued that Congress government weakened state economy through unscientific guarantee schemes and then shifted responsibility to Centre . He also accused Congress of raising prices on essential commodities and burdening citizens .
Then came another strong line from him: "The Congress high command and LoP Rahul Gandhi used Siddaramaiah like ATM," . That is not small statement ah,because it directly accuses party leadership of exploiting its own leader for political gain.
Joshi also said Centre has been giving financial support to Karnataka through schemes like Jal Jeevan Mission and GST compensation . His final defence was,"Despite repeated clarifications from the Centre regarding fund releases,blaming Union government is not correct."
And now question is not just about Siddaramaiah resigning . It is about OBC representation,Congress high command control,Karnataka economy and how both sides will use this moment politically…
