This was his first public reaction after incident, and honestly, his anger was very visible.
The comments came after Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar’s policy address, when media asked him about raid during press briefing . From way reports describe it,Vijayan looked uncomfortable with question, but he still used moment to attack Central government directly .
He said,"The ED is increasingly being used as political tool to target rivals of the BJP government at the Centre." And that one line only shows how he is trying to frame this whole thing as more than one personal or legal issue.
His main point was that agencies like ED are being used against non-BJP governments across India . Not just Kerala issue, according to him,but national pattern where opposition leaders are being cornered through investigative pressure.
Few things standing out clearly here:
- Vijayan claims ED is being weaponized against rivals of BJP government at the Centre.
- He criticised Congress for selective support on ED actions.
- He confirmed one of Veena Vijayan's bank accounts has been frozen.
And tbh, this Congress angle is also interesting . Vijayan accused Congress party of backing ED action whenever it suits them politically, especially in cases involving leaders like Arvind Kejriwal and M.K. Stalin . His argument is basically that selective outrage weakens democratic traditions India has followed for long time.
But he did not go deep into investigation involving his daughter Veena Vijayan . Still,he confirmed that one of her bank accounts has been frozen, and that is not small thing ah . It clearly shows matter has moved beyond just political statements.
Now this ED raid has become flashpoint in Kerala politics . What could have stayed as legal investigation is slowly becoming full political confrontation between ruling side and opposition leaders.
And at same time, question remains uncomfortable… is this really about investigation,or has every agency action now become impossible to separate from politics?
