Key Takeaways

  • Odisha Police launch intensified anti-crime drive
  • Over 5,700 non-bailable warrants executed
  • Significant narcotics and illegal mining seizures made

Odisha Police seems to be in full action mode right now,and honestly, numbers coming out from this special drive are not small thing ah . This is not one or two local raids, but statewide push after directions from Odisha Director General of Police Y.B. Khurania .

And this special enforcement drive started on May 12 . Police say focus is on reducing crime across state, with district Superintendents of Police and Commissioner of Police for Bhubaneswar-Cuttack supervising work on ground .

Main targets are pending non-bailable warrants (NBWs),absconders, narcotics smuggling and other illegal activities . In past 18 days itself, police sources said 5,703 non-bailable warrants have been executed.

That led to arrest of 520 individuals involved in various criminal cases . Now that number itself shows how many pending cases were sitting there quietly in system.

Few major numbers from this drive:

  • Police registered 97 NDPS cases and seized 7,398 kg of ganja.
  • 3,293 individuals were penalized for drunk driving, with ₹6.46 crore in fines.
  • 654 illegal mining cases were registered,and 162 arrests were made .

But this drive is not limited to narcotics only . Police have also moved against illegal mining, excise violations and illegal transportation of cattle across Odisha.

As per details shared,2,154 excise-related cases have been registered . Also,29 cases of illegal cattle transportation were registered, and 284 cattle were rescued from 17 vehicles.

And then comes seizure part, which again shows scale of operation . Police seized many vehicles and equipment used in illegal operations, including 878 vehicles and machinery involved in illegal mining.

DGP Khurania said,"Odisha Police remains firmly committed to ensuring safety, security and a crime-free environment for the citizens of state." Strong statement, but real test will be whether this same pressure continues after drive headlines slow down…

Because numbers look big rn,but question is what happens after few weeks . Will this become regular policing habit,or just one high-intensity phase before things again go back to usual…
