On June 21,2026,a total of 6,384 candidates took part in National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) re-examination there, and whole thing happened only because original exam scheduled for May 3 was cancelled after confirmed question paper leak.
That is not small thing ah . For students preparing for medical and dental courses, this exam is already stressful enough. Then paper leak,cancellation,re-exam… it naturally shakes confidence of students and parents.
Re-exam was conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) across 15 centers in district . Candidates were allowed entry between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m . . Officials said all necessary arrangements were made for smooth exam, and security measures were strictly followed.
But attendance number tells its own story. Out of 8,565 registered candidates,2,181 were absent . Attendance rate was recorded at 75%,which is big drop from usual figures. In earlier exam, only 364 candidates were absent .
And tbh, this is where concern becomes very visible. Re-exam saw 20.76% fewer candidates than original test, and that kind of fall cannot be brushed aside like normal absence.
Few things standing out clearly here:
- Original May 3 exam was cancelled due to confirmed question paper leak.
- 6,384 candidates appeared out of 8,565 registered candidates.
- Smart watches and jewelry were prohibited during exam.
Candidates were also told to deposit unauthorized items with their parents before entering exam hall . Security may look strict from outside, but bigger question is still about trust. Once paper leak happens, students start wondering whether effort is being protected properly or not .
For many families,NEET is not just one exam . It means years of coaching, money, pressure, and hope for medical or dental admission across country. So when something like this happens, even a successfully conducted re-exam does not fully remove doubt.
And now educational community will keep discussing transparency, reliability and safety of future assessments . Because if students start feeling that exam process itself can be compromised, then what are they supposed to trust next…
