On International Day of Yoga on June 21,2026,Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development P . Narayana spoke about making yoga daily habit in every Indian home, not just something people remember once in year.
He was participating in mass yoga event at Swatantra Park in Nellore, and his main point was simple only . Yoga should become voluntary routine, not government order forced on people.
Narayana also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking yoga to global level . He said yoga is now adopted in over 190 countries, and that is not small thing ah .
His line also stood out: "It is heartening to note that yoga, which is part of Indian culture, is practiced across the globe today." And tbh, that sentence captures why many Indians feel personal pride when yoga gets respect outside India also.
Few things clearly came from his message:
- Yoga as daily routine — Encouraging citizens to practice yoga regularly.
- Local initiatives for yoga — Plans to implement yoga training in urban parks.
- Global recognition of yoga — Yoga is now embraced in 190 countries worldwide.
And he did not speak only to regular yoga followers . Narayana called upon participants, including morning walkers and Karate students,to bring yoga into daily life instead of treating it like annual event.
He also said this event was planned to encourage yoga at community level . As directed by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, similar programs are planned in every ward and village secretariat.
There was also talk about public spaces . Government has modernized parks and brought in yoga trainers so people can attend public classes more easily . In cities especially, this kind of open space use can actually help people if it is maintained properly.
But real question is whether this energy will continue after June 21 . Because making yoga part of daily life sounds nice, but habit building is different battle altogether…
