Even with such strict prohibition laws in Bihar, seems like liquor smuggling is just not stopping ah. Every few days there is a new story about some big seizure .
And now, another big bust has happened in Buxar where officials caught foreign liquor worth around ₹20.5 lakh . They also arrested two alleged smugglers during what was supposed to be a routine vehicle check .
This whole operation happened on Tuesday morning at Veer Kunwar Singh Check Post . According to Prohibition Inspector-in-Charge Kundan Kumar, officials were just doing their job when they stopped one suspicious DCM truck for inspection .
At first glance, everything looked normal only . The truck was loaded with jute sacks, like any other regular cargo vehicle. Nothing to see here.
But the officials were smart . They used some kind of specialized scanning equipment and noticed irregularities inside the vehicle . That’s when they decided to do a full search. And underneath all those jute sacks, they found tons of crates filled with foreign liquor, all hidden very carefully.
And tbh, this is where you see how much effort these guys put into hiding things. The concealment strategy was clearly meant to fool regular checks.
Police arrested two people on spot,Rahul Singh from Rajasthan and Sachin Yadav from Haryana . During questioning, they apparently told police that the liquor was brought from Haryana and was supposed to be delivered in Bhagalpur.
Few things standing out in this whole incident:
- Big consignment of foreign liquor worth ₹20.5 lakh seized in Buxar.
- Smugglers used innovative method, hiding crates under jute sacks to avoid detection.
- Two accused from Rajasthan and Haryana arrested, liquor was headed to Bhagalpur .
Now Excise Superintendent Ashraf Jamal has confirmed that both men are facing charges under Bihar's prohibition laws . And the investigation is going to get bigger,to try and uncover the entire network of suppliers and transporters .
But you have to wonder, for every one truck like this they manage to catch, how many are actually getting through . It feels like non-stop cat and mouse game…
