Honestly,this kind of campaign was expected for some time,because drug addiction among young people is not small thing ah.
Kerala's Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala inaugurated campaign at Kunnamangalam in Kozhikode . While speaking there,he raised concern about international drug lobby trying to pull Kerala youth into addiction . That line itself sounds scary,because this is not just about police cases anymore,it is about school kids,college students and families .
And tbh,this is where public role becomes real issue . Government can launch campaign,Kerala Police can do raids,but if parents,children and local communities are not alert,drug networks still find some way inside .
Chennithala also said,"If new Kerala is to be built,a new generation free from substance abuse must be nurtured." That statement is simple,but it hits hard because future generation angle is exactly where this whole fight becomes emotional .
Few things standing out from launch:
- 'Operation Toofan: Narco Hunt' was launched as major anti-drug initiative by Kerala Police.
- Campaign is asking parents,children and wider community to take active part .
- Education focus is also there through One Million Goal Campaign against drugs.
During event,Chennithala handed over anti-drug torch to M.A. Razak Master,MLA . Symbolic thing,yes,but message was clear that this cannot be police department's fight only . It has to become shared responsibility .
He also recognized students who did well in examinations,which honestly was nice touch . Because when you talk about drugs and youth,education cannot be kept separately . Schools,colleges,teachers,parents,everyone becomes part of same conversation only.
And now campaign is expected to involve educational institutions,local communities and law enforcement agencies together . Awareness,resilience,early warning signs,peer pressure… all these things matter more than people usually admit.
But real question is what happens after launch event is over . Will families actually talk openly with children,will schools notice early signs,will local areas report suspicious activity without fear… that part is still hanging there…
