Karnataka politics is again looking very heated, and honestly, this whole D.K. Shivakumar Chief Minister talk is not feeling like simple party routine . When Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also closely monitoring political developments in Karnataka, you know things are not quiet behind scenes .
On May 30 , D.K. Shivakumar,President of Karnataka Congress, met Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot at Raj Bhavan . It was described as informal discussion, but timing says a lot because Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting is coming and party has to lock its leadership structure after recent electoral successes.
And Shivakumar was not alone there . His brother,D.K. Suresh, former Congress MP,also accompanied him . According to sources, main discussion was around logistical arrangements for possible swearing-in ceremony if Shivakumar is appointed as Chief Minister .
But timing made everything more urgent only . Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot was scheduled to leave for temple town of Dharmasthala later in day,so this meeting clearly had some pressure around it .
Few things standing out rn:
- Astrologers have indicated June 1,June 3,and June 5 as suitable dates for oath-taking ceremony.
- M.B . Patil and Eshwar Khandre are among senior leaders in race for Deputy CM post.
- Between 12 and 14 legislators are expected to be sworn in along with new Chief Minister .
As talks moved ahead,June 3 started looking like most likely date for swearing-in ceremony . Reports say Governor's office has already been informed accordingly, and that makes whole situation feel almost ready, but still not fully settled .
And tbh, real fight may not be just about Chief Minister post . Inside Congress, lobbying for Deputy Chief Minister position has already started strongly, with different factions putting forward their claims . Leaders from Lingayat community and Scheduled Caste community are also part of this power calculation,so it is not small thing ah.
At same time, caretaker Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was continuing with public work at his Cauvery residence, where he was addressing grievances . After that,he planned to attend final rites of former minister Venkataramanappa in Pavagada . So while one side is busy with leadership change, outgoing administration still has duties going on.
Honestly, this is where Karnataka Congress looks both powerful and tense at same time . Electoral success is one thing, but managing ambitions, community balance,Deputy CM race and ministerial spots is different game altogether.
And now all eyes are on CLP meeting,Governor's next step, and whether June 3 actually becomes big oath day… or whether internal pulling starts changing script again…
