Not usual spy-hero entry,not clean patriotic saviour type character . This one sounds darker from start only.
Alia Bhatt has been confirmed for Alpha,upcoming film produced by Yash Raj Films . And her role is being described as an 'alpha killer,' which already tells you this is not regular heroine setup inside YRF Spy Universe .
From what is being said,her character has been raised and trained for assassination . Means she is not someone accidentally pulled into action world . She is made for killing,and that changes whole mood of film immediately .
And honestly,this is where things get interesting . Aditya Chopra apparently wanted protagonist who breaks usual moulds and should not be judged by normal heroic standards . That is slightly risky also,because Indian audience often wants lead character to be morally clear.
Few things standing out clearly in Alpha right now:
- Alia Bhatt's character is an assassin,trained specifically for killing.
- YRF Spy Universe seems to be trying new type of protagonist with this film .
- Cast includes Sharvari alongside Alia,with Bobby Deol as villain and Anil Kapoor in a pivotal role.
But if done properly,this can become fresh change . We have seen enough perfect heroes who always know right thing to do . lead character operating outside typical moral boundaries can be entertaining,if writing does not become messy.
Director Shiv Rawail,who is known for The Railway Men,is handling Alpha . That also makes people curious because action genre needs different rhythm,and this film already sounds like it is depending a lot on tone and treatment.
YRF spokesperson has not confirmed exact plot details and has asked fans to wait for first promotional material . Fair enough,because rn most excitement is coming from idea of Alia playing this kind of ruthless role.
